"HCPD is a fairly large local genealogy society with a rapidly growing library collection. We had been using an old DOS version of another program for which there are no upgrades planned and which no longer filled our needs. I have been struggling for many months trying to create or find a database that would fill our changing needs.

It had to be easy to use both for the person doing our cataloging as well as for the end-users, our patrons, particularly the "computer-challenged" ones. It should be adaptable in the type of reports it would print. It needed to be easy to convert for use on the Internet; and, it should be sophisticated enough for our new computers yet simple enough to use on our older computers.

I looked at programs costing thousands of dollars. I had several programming "friends" and members of our organization working on a program for us using Access. CATraxx

I have been using BookCat, CaTraxx, & CatVids since version 4. Before I started using the programs I kept track of my collections on index cards (remember those!). I shopped around trying out several programs like CaTraxx before deciding on CaTraxx. CaTraxx at first was intimidating because of all it did. I am sure it and its companion programs may still look intimidating to someone shopping around for such programs. Looks are deceiving; all programs track your collections with an ease that can only be appreciated with use.

CaTraxx was so good during the trial period I soon bought BookCat and CatVids without a trial; both of these programs proved to be just as good as CaTraxx. I later added SoftCat Plus to my computer and found it just as useful.

The manuals turned out to be some of the best manuals written for computer programs, written much as I would write a detailed manual. (Maybe that is why I like the style so much.)

Customer service has been great. I usually wrote asking silly questions at best. I do that when I am tired and not thinking. You people have been patient and to the point in your guidance and I really appreciate it.

I would recommend any of your programs, based on my use of the four I have used. I do not think there can be any better programs for tracking collections than the programs written by FNProgramvare.

"Years ago I created a database for logging my CD collection. I used to be a DJ and probably had between 1000-1500 CD's. Well, entering the information in manually was a task that I was never able to complete. I recently found out about this technology to use cddb to catalog CDs and was searching for software. There were a couple I gave a test run of, but I got the trial version of CATraxx, entered 50 CDs and right away knew this was the one for me and bought the software. I only have about 650 CDs now,
and I have nearly all of them in the database. The only thing that I wish they had more of is Cover Art for a lot of the CD Singles I have, which I just had to scan in manually, that isn't an issue with CATraxx but just thought i'd mention it. Bottom line is, this is a great piece of software that I wish I had found 10 or so years ago when I  as DJing because it would have come in handy. Thanks for providing a useful piece of software, because nowadays since everyone is into downloading MP3s (legally and otherwise), the industry is catering to the iPod generation. There are still some of us that like the CDs and the legal aspect of paying deserving artists for their work. Thanks so much and keep up the good work. "

"I am an engineer in charge of a rather large database which is used to track all our roads (about 6000) and their attributes (about 34 for each road) on the Forest I work. I have seen different databases come and go in an attempt to keep up with technology and improve efficiency.

I started collecting CD's in college (some 15 years ago) and have recently added a substantial amount to my collection. I decided to organize my collection via a database. "I have been involved with music collecting since 1962. It has always been my dream to be able to catalog my collection efficiently and effectively. When I got a computer about a year ago, I assumed it would now be easy to do this. But with a collection of over 5,000 CDs, LPs, cassettes, etc., the task of entering all that information seemed daunting to say the least. In the past month or so I have downloaded many software packages designed to catalog music collections. I found none of them to be of enough value to me to register them and purchase them.

Recently, I downloaded the shareware version of CATraxx 98. After about a day of working with the program I began to realize that this was the program for me. I particularly liked the ability to import information from the CDDB, as it has saved me countless hours of manually inputting information. In a relatively short while, during spare moments here and there, I have input over 2,500 CDs. Of course, this has barely scratched the surface of my collection, but in a comparable time period using similar programs I was only able to input an average of 70-80 CDs, not to mention the fact that many of the interfaces were poorly designed and lacked the features of CATraxx 98. One or two had the ability to use the CDDB, but this was importing one CD at a time! With CATraxx, I can scan CDs about as quickly as I can physically load them into the disc drive, as many at a time as I want, and then connect to the CDDB and download all the information at once.

Needless to say, when I reached the 100 CD limit of the shareware version I immediately registered/purchased the program electronically. I received the e-mail code to unlock the program within 24 hours, even on a Sunday! I am still learning to use all the features of CATraxx 98, but I did want you to know how much I am enjoying the program. You are to be commended for a very well thought-out and effective program."

"It was in 1994, at the moment when I discovered the Access software within the framework of a professional use, that I started to dream about the possibility of establishing a database which would take the whole of the collection of discs that I had seized using a typingmachine, then by a text processing. I bought my first computer in 1985 for the 'SOLE' purpose of inventorying my music collection, which now consists of over 6,000 pieces. I'm surprised to find only one testimonial to StampCAT on your site, given so many for the other products. I bought version 6 while in the middle of writing my own Access database for my Gt Britain collection and decided not to use it because it didn't appear to accommodate the idea of 'sets' rather than single stamps.
