Types of information

StampCAT stores two basic types of information:

StampView Stamp information, such as country, catalog number, date of issue, price, value, etc. "Stamp" is a general term that can mean a single stamp, a sheet of stamps, an envelope, etc.

To work with stamps, activate the Stamp View (choose Stamp View from the View menu, or click Stamp View in the view bar).
LookupView Lookup information, that you add once and then reuse later. The Catalog lookup table is a good example. You add information about the catalog (the name of the catalog, currency and exchange rate) only once. Later, you simply choose the name of the catalog from a list when you register new stamps. When the exchange rate changes, you just modify the exchange rate for the catalog. The calculated value is then updated for all stamps in the database linked to this catalog.

When you modify an entry in a lookup table, for example to fix a typing error, the change will be reflected in all fields that are linked to this lookup table.

To work with lookup tables, activate the Lookup View (choose Lookup View from the View menu, or click Lookup View in the view bar), then select the desired lookup table from the Lookup Tables drop-down list:
