If you get an error message when you try to open a database, use the Repair Database command to repair the database. The SoftCAT database can become corrupted if the program is terminated while it is attempting to write to the database. This can happen when there is a power-failure or a computer hardware problem.
| 1. | Choose Repair Database from the Tools menu.
You see the 'Repair Database' window. |
| 2. | Select the drive and folder where the database is located. |
| 3. | From the list, select the database you want to repair. |
| 4. | Click the Open button, or double click the database name, to repair the database. |
Because SoftCAT creates a temporary copy of the database during the repair process, you must have enough disk space for both the original and the duplicate database. The repair operation fails if there isn't enough disk space available.
