| 1. | Choose Simple from the Search menu. You see the 'Simple Search' window. |
| 2. | From the drop-down list the cursor is in, select the field you want to search in. |
| 3. | Select the operator from the drop-down list on the right. |
| 4. | Specify the value you want to search for. If you want to combine two fields in the search, continue with step 5. If not, proceed to step 9. |
| 5. | From the drop-down list in the box below, select the second field you want to search in. |
| 6. | Select the operator from the drop-down list on the right. |
| 7. | Specify the value you want to search for. |
| 8. | Specify whether you want to combine the two fields with the AND operator or the OR operator by selecting either AND or OR. |
| 9. | To search the subset only, press the Search subset button |
| 10. | If you want SoftCAT to mark all records found in the search, and then show these records (activate the subset), press the Show all button |
| 11. | If you want to save the search, choose Save from the File menu. |
| 12. | To execute the search, choose Search from the Search menu. |
