SoftCAT stores two basic types of information:
| • | Program information, such as title, version, publisher, media, category, serial number, etc.
To work with programs, activate the Program View (choose Program View from the View menu, or click Program View in the view bar). |
| • | Lookup information, that you add once and then reuse later. The Publisher lookup table is a good example. Information about the publisher (name, web site url, etc.) is added to the Person table the first time you add a program by this publisher. Later, you simply select the name from a list. When you modify an entry in a lookup table, for example to fix a typing error, the change will be reflected in all fields that are linked to this lookup table.
To work with lookup tables, activate the Lookup View (choose Lookup View from the View menu, or click Lookup View in the view bar), then select the desired lookup table from the Lookup menu.
