Post Batch update available?

Hi,

When entering a lot of books with for example the same language or catagory; it would be nice to first select all the books manually in the list, specify the field and the right content and then do a batch update for all the selected books. Now I have to go through record for record. Is this already possible? I can't find out how to accomplish this. Furthermore thanks for adding the Dutch site :D !

Cheers,

Walter

You can use the Replace function.

Yes, but only when there is already some content; do you have any idea how to replace an empty field with content?

You can also replace an empty field with a new value: simply leave empty the first box ( Search for ) and select ( or enter..) the value you need to add in the second one ( Replace with ).
You can also Replace only a "Subset", that if a list of items that you previously marked.

Hope it's what you need & have a nice day

Thanks for all the help; I tried exactly this but it doesn't work: I'm getting "No records found matching search criteria!" messages on this.

Ok, found out what went wrong; obviously I did a replace in the past and all fields were already filled with content... sorry for this

hi
I' m not sure if I've understood your question correctly, but here is what I use when I record a large number of titles that have a lot of information in common: the 'clone'-function (Ctrl+G); only the fields with different content need to be changed. This can be used both in 'Book' and in "contents'; I've sometimes filed hundreds of records in this manner - just remember to re-generate reference-numbers whenever the author's name starts with a different letter.
