Hi everybody
I revamp this topic because I REALLY like the idea of having Catraxx on my iPod Touch (iPhone).
I recently bought the only available music catalog that can export on iphone and, although the iphone app itself is quite nice, I find its PC mandatory counterpart miles away from Catraxx - far less friendly and so many limited options! (By the way, I'm supposed to reenter my entire collection - about 2000 items, excluding digital files!)

ipad 2 cases
ipad 2 cases leather
iPad2 cases

I must say that having my database in my pocket is so useful (and sooooo cool too!).
I'm not asking for a complete app. That particular competitor allows you just to browse your collection on iphone - no data entry. But that would be perfect.
Does anybody else need this feature? Perhaps if they receive enough requests, they would start working on this...
Cheers
Paolo
(BTW: I won't ever use the "Export to iPhone Notes" feature. I'm talking of having images and details - a REAL app).

How about for Blackberries?

I prefer the Blackberries than ipad.

I am a longtime user of the best music cataloging software in existence myself, and would also love to see a CATraxx" app for smartphones. Just yesterday, I dispatched an e-mail to Fredrik, suggesting an app for smartphones that would allow us to run our CATraxx (and CATVids) databases in some form.

In my personal situation, such an app would be helpful not only to avoid buying duplicates when I'm away from home, but would also be useful when I'm listening to music and need to pull albums from my collection. Its not always possible to remember every album and every track in my collection off the top of my head. Being able to browse CATraxx is easier than going to the shelves and craning my neck in an attempt to read CD and LP titles.

To check my music collection when I am away from home, I currently create a CATraxx album overview report in PDF format, download it to my iPhone, and use the iBooks app to read the file. It is useful, but not the same as being able to browse CATraxx.

I'm an android user myself, but would think one solution would be something like:
Catraxx auto-export to file when saved -> Save to Dropbox folder "Catraxx" -> Dropbox app for your mobile device, mark Catraxx-folder to be synced -> App that can read the file.

I can't remember which formats were supported (XML, Excel, HTML, TXT atleast), but I'm definitely sure there is one that would work pretty well.
For the ones who want covers and all other info, I guess PDF is the best choice, but I find it too cumbersome for my needs. Maybe XML?

Instead of Dropbox one could use any other cloud service.

I think FNProgramvare is missing a good opportunity to get more revenue avenues by having an App for the programs they have. The world is giong mobile whether we like it or not and the idea of having our programs on a traditional desktop or even a laptop is so old world :-)

The faster you get on this bandwagon the more money you can make (from me at least). I am thinking of an app that can share on Facebook/Google+/Twitter/... you name it to create a social experience when adding a new item to the catalogs. Maybe sending a txt to a friend that borrowed some CDs to return them... The possibilities are endless...

A note to the moderator: I posted the same topic elsewhere before searching for a similar subject.

Post Re: CATraxx to iPhone & iPad

I would like to see an Ipad or Android app for CATraxx. I have 8000 plus CD's and getting sick of buying duplicates when I see a CD I think I have not got.
I have nearly finished putting all CD's on a hard drive in MP3 Format (this has taken a very long time). I use Audio Monkey to play them from Computer and Western Digital Pro App on Ipad and Android to play them on my Pads.
I have found another competitors CD software that will take my MP3 Albums, scan the hard drive and put them into it's database and upload the database to both pads with covers, track listings etc.
I do believe CATraxx is missing a great opportunity to look at something like this as a lot of folk out there have pads of some description and use them more than the computer. I don't mind paying the extra to have this facility which to be honest I have done with this other software database I discovered.
I think CATraxx is the best CD catalogue program for Computer based Databases, but I feel it is getting left behind with features other programs have to offer.
Please don't make me decide which software to use because at the present time I think you would loose on your next upgrade (Version 10) to your competitors.

I have to agree. While I won't be changing software anytime soon, I think that the CAT collection is mature and feature laden enough to be put on the back burner for a while, and let Frederick work on an iPhone version. I would be happy with the software the way it is for a long while, with just the occasional bug fix now and then.

Something that would at least let me view my collection on my iPhone, if not at least add new stuff in by barcode, getting the new details when I sync with my computer. Preferably something that syncs automatically when I close down the program on the computer.

Again, not a critisism, just stating a fact. More and more people are using their phones to house things like this. I do use a competitors product to keep a list on my phone, but only a list. The details aren't near as accurate as my CAT databases.

This is actually possible with the CATweb and also with my own application: HAPweb.
If you are interested in trying HAPweb, please send me a mail.

That sounds interesting. I've been meaning to try CATweb, just never got around to it. Question before I get into it though, does this require a computer running 24/7 to access it anytime? And will it sync to all the CAT programs? I run Cattrax and Bookcat. And does it mean I have to access a web page when I browse my collections? If so, not the optimum solution, but workable.

Hi Cary
Yes, it requires CATraxx and a miniApache web server running on the main computer, when you wish to access your data.
At the moment, it's only CATraxx that's supported. (because I only use CATraxx).
You access the data using a webbrowser (IE/Firefox/Safari tested).
Basically, you can access CATraxx data using HAPweb from:
1) main computer (where CATraxx is running)
2) a PC/Ipad etc. sitting on your local Network
3) a PC/Ipad etc. sitting on a public Network
Apart from accessing data, you can also play single tracks on your device.

Still interested?

It seems, that you have tried to send me an e-mail, but it has been stopped somewhere.
Please communicate in the forum instead.
