Entering dates

Postby FredrikN » Wed Feb 04, 2009 2:13 pm

Did you know that you can use the plus or minus keys on your keyboard to increase or decrease the date by one day when entering a date?

For example, suppose Date Aquired is set to:

You want to change the date to the day before: Simply press the minus key:

Now, if you press the plus key twice, the date will be set to:

You can press "Y" to automatically select the year part of the field, "M" to select the month part and "D" to select the day part. This will speed up the data entry process. For example, to enter the year, move the cursor to the field, press "Y", then type the year:

Also remember you can press Ctrl+D to insert today's date!

Another Date Tip:
When using the drop down calendar clicking on the "Today" button will quickly move the calendar to today's date. If you want to quickly insert today's date, double-click on the "Today" button.

CTRL+D will also insert todays date without using the drop down.

Yet another tip:

Use the Ctrl + Down Arrow shortcut to open the calendar.
