I stumbled across SoftCat and decided to try it out. Wow! Fantastic and free!
I would like to be able to specify a new location for the software database instead of it being located in the program SoftCAT\Data folder. How about this as a new feature in due course? This so that I can place the database on my Data partition where it will get backed up.

Ciao Brett, please try if this is what you need :

- Close SoftCAT
- Move your database to the location you need ( i.e. C:\MyFiles to Backup\MySoftCATdb )
- Run SoftCAT
- You'll receive a message telling that SoftCAT is unable to locate your usual "SoftCAT\Data" database ( it always looks for the last opened database )
- close the Dialog message box by pressing OK
- Now File > Open Database
- Locate i.e. your C:\MyFiles to Backup\MySoftCATdb using the usual appearing Windows dialog window
- You're done. From now on you can act as usual and your database is in the "new" location you choosed.
