Default date values

If you want the program to always use today's date as a default value for a date field, simply set the default value to "99/99/9999":

Can this be used for filters as well? I see the "9999 for this year" tip, but what about "99/99/9999" or "99/99/" for today in filters? I'm thinking about "born today", "released today", etc.
