Post Orphaned group header in a report

I have a report containing groups. Quite often I get a group header at the bottom of a page and on the following page, the header is repeated with the correct details following. I would like to prevent the "orphaned" group header at the bottom of the page. I have set "keep together" in both the group header and detail band properties but this doesn't make any difference. Any ideas/suggestions on how to prevent this?

Try setting "Minimum space below header" to the height of the Detail band.

Thanks Fredrik.

I eventually got it to work but had to make the minimum space greater than the height of the details band! i.e The details band height is 0.4497 and had to make the minimum space below header 1.0 before it stopped printing the group header at the bottom of any pages. This means I have a larger space at the bottom but this is better than the orphaned header. I am in the UK and my Windows system is set up to use metric. I also have a custom page size height of 25 cm so assume 0.4497 is 4.497 mm? I know the Windows print system uses 1/100 inches internally and is not particularly happy with metric but I wouldn't have expected to have such a large discrepancy!

Regards, Ken

You also need to take the height of the group header band into account.

Yes, this is correct if the View=>Units setting is set to "Centimeters".

In version 10.20 there is a new 'Prevent orphans' setting in the 'Grouping' window.

Installed V10.20 and the behaviour is just the same. Setting The 'Prevent orphans' switch makes no difference! The group heading can still appear at the bottom of a page without any details. I have tried various combinations of this switch and 'Keep group together' (the default being both set) but unless I set the 'Minimum space below header' to 1.0000 I still get orphans on some pages. So the switches don't appear to do anything.

Works fine here. Please send the report file to support@fnprg.com.
