Post Suggestion: Soundtrack Listing

I'd like to make another suggestion for a new feature in CatVids: Soundtrack listing

As music is an important part in movies and shows it would be great to have a possibility to store soundtrack information in CatVids.

A field similar to "Cast" with two columns for artist and title will do.

It can hold information about songs used in movies. (example 1)
And it could also be used for the tracklisting of Music-DVDs/-Videos, live concerts etc. (example 2)

The artist could be stored in the person table. But i'm not sure if it's good for multi artists.
Maybe a new table is a better choice.

Example 1: Movie

Example 2: Music

regards
Werner

I have to also agree that this would be helpful. I have many movies that the music is pretty important to the movie and sometimes is more important to the movie. A simple content section with maybe the ability to Query Update from the Internet to populate that section would be a great addition.

Hi Fredrik --

Can we expect to see this feature added in a future update? Music plays such an important role in movies...
I was just going to start copying and pasting this info from IMDb; but I can wait if you tell us it might happen at some point.

Thank you.

I'm sorry, but I doubt support for this will be added (at least not in the near future).

It's OK. Thanks for the quick reply.

Based on what I've seen in this thread (the image in message number 1 is exactly what I'm looking for) I'm trying to create a new table for the Soundtrack data (next to the LINKS tab in the pop-up window), but I don't know how to insert text. Any suggestions? What I'm doing is 1) open FORM DESIGNER; 2) Add Tab; 3) Add Group Box (CTRL+6)... And nothing happens from there. The Box I create doesn't allow me to enter text.
I haven't been able to find anything related with this in the online FAQ, so I thought I'd ask again here...

You can only use an existing field you cannot create a new table. In the above example, neth00 probably used one of the fields under the "Cast & Crew" tab. If I had to guess it probably was the "Leading Role" field. It was simply re-purposed/renamed.

Hope this helps!

Hi Doug --
Thanks for answering. It was too good to be true I guess ;-) As an alternative to it I'm going to use the NOTES box to paste the Soundtrack info. At least that box seems to have limitless space to store text.
Thanks again for helping me figure this out!

Hi Marty,

Doug is right. I just used the cast field and the form designer to create an example.

Fredrik: Maybe you can just add a new "notes" field for this in the next major update.
Sure the existing notes can be used but it would be nice to seperate the soundtrack listing from other notes.

best
Werner
