 Re: Video Type (numeric)
I'm not sure I totally understand what you are after, but try Right Clicking on the field and selecting "Edit Table".

 Re: Video Type (numeric)
Thanks for your reply, Doug. This item ("Video Type (Numeric)") is mentioned in the CatVIDS "Help" section under Contents Table: Standard Fields. The problem is, I don't know how to find or invoke it, hence I can't "right click" on it... About 2/3 of my movie collection is in the form of AVI's, usually 3-6 on a single DVD. I'm trying to work out a convenient way of representing this classification in the CatVIDS database. Do you have any ideas? Regards, Roger

 Re: Video Type (numeric)
Thanks Roger. Now I understand.
I can get the field to show in the Content View but not on a form. I think it's one of those read/view only fields. Strange thing is when I attached an avi file to the content, the Video Type stayed empty.
I think we'll have to wait for Fredrik's response.

 Re: Video Type (numeric)
Hi Roger,
As Doug said, Fredrik is obviously the man to defer to on this, but your question piqued my curiosity so I had a bit of a look around.
I'm not exactly sure what the purpose is (maybe Fredrik could enlighten us?) but it seems that particular field is non-editable and is automatically filled by the program based on the extension of the linked video file.
Just like Doug, I don't believe you can show that field on a form and when you show the column in Contents View it doesn't seem to display anything (same thing for the 'Video Filename' column).
You can, however, edit your xsl templates to show the field in an explorer view. Though I'm not sure if that's going to be of much use because it only displays one of the 5 numeric values specified in the help file (i.e. 1; 2; 3; 4; 99).
I'm just wondering if utilising one of the custom fields (such as Custom 04, 05, or 06) would provide you with what you want.

This field simply contains a numbering corresponding to the video file type (1 - avi, 2 - mpg, 3 - mov, 4 - flv, or 99 - other), which is automatically set when you link to a video file. You can search and group by this field, and display in the browse list/or in a report.

 Re: Video Type (numeric)
That is a bug. Will look into it...
