Post 3 questions Comments listed, Song Lyrics, Year of album

First question. When I open a report, I get the thumbnail with all the songs listed under the picture. This is nice. My question is this, is there a way for me to have the comments or review of album under the thumbnails instead of the song list. If so how, and what is the limitation, in case I have a very large review.

Second question, is the lyrics field open for search? For example if I know only a certain line in the song can I find it through a search, or is that not possible.

Third question, I am listing several albums from the 60's that have no date. When I put the date in i would like to put in say 1965? But the field will not let me out in a question mark. So it ends up looking like this 196. Is there a way to put in the ?

Thanx Dan

It is not clear, so I ask you please to explain further...Which report / template / other are you using ?
Anyway, if I'm not misunderstanding, I guess you can create a custom report to accomplish what you need...if you have a very large Text field to print, you can set properly the " Stretch" and " Shift Relative To " options.

Yes. You can use, in example, a "Simple" Search for the " Track | Memo | Lyrics " field, enter your string to search and use the "Contains" operator.

I'm afraid it is not possible since Date field are not "text" formatted...
A suggestion...
In my opinion you can do a better work linking to AMG ( http://www.allmusic.com/ ) and retrieving your missing dates for all your items...I think you can find many, and if you miss some dates, you can post a message asking users if they can help you, maybe in the "General Discussion" Forum ?

ADDENDUM
Dan, please note that you should be able to read the Date on a LP by looking at the very internal "smooth" ring, where the phisycal tracks end...they usually printed dates there...try to move the disc's surface under a good light and in backlighting...
Please excuse my English !!

Thanx Dan

Ciao Dan, hope this helps & have a nice day

I have looked on my records and there are no dates. My records are religious in nature from indie groups. Many of them did not put their dates on their albums for who knows why. That is why I wanted to put a ? to at least guess at a date.

My report I am using on the new version. I go to reports/albums/cover thumbnail. It shows the thumbnail and songlist. That is where I would like to put in the reviews or comments. I know this sounds awkward, but I am not good at making my own report I have tried but so far no luck. Could you possibly explain to me the steps to set it up so I could utilize the reviews instead of the songlist.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi Dan,

I really like your idea :)

So I figured out how to do it...

From the top menu
Tools > Explorer Templates

Look at
Album > Browse Window
Click the "..." box at the right
This will show you which template is used here
The default is "AlbumBrowse.xsl"
Now change this to "Album_Memo.xsl"

Close and re-open you database to bring the changes into effect.

Now you have your comments/reviews under the thumbnails!

Cheers, Les

That's not necessary, it is sufficent pressing the "Refresh" button...

Thanks a lot, Les, hope you're fine & take care !!

Well, since you could not sort corrctly anyway when using a " ? " in place of a number, what about storing, say, 2965 instead than 1965 ?

First off, if you need I can build and send it...but you probably need to learn how to do, correct ? ...so, I will post my suggestion soon.

Do you need only the Review field or do you need to ADD the Reviews and ALSO the Tracks list ?

please just let me know !

Thanks for all your help.

Don't mention it & take care !

I tried what Les suggested. That is not what I am looking for, plus when I did it my thumbnail disappeared. I am looking for a specific report I can print out and include it in a book or reference. I would appreciate it if you did make me one and then sent it to me. That would be great.

I just went into reports and tried but I couldn't even find the memo section. So thank you and everyone for all you advice and help.

Dan
