Post Help: Custom xsl file for HTML Export BookCAT

Hello people,

After several days trial and error trying to build a custom xsl file for using when exporting to HTML for a customized database I have over old Fire Insurance maps, I give in and come here hoping someone can tell me if what I try to do is possible or not.
Maybe it is not possible and that is why I bang my head into the wall... :shock:

I've managed to get a list working alternating colors and all, but several of my names (Books for BookCAT) on the maps is repeating up to several times and it looks messy and I tried to have what for BookCAT means that all books who shares a Publisher is sorted into a long list separated by some rules and sorted into a table where all titles starting by A is listed under A, all titles under B is listed under B and so on.

I got them sorted alphabetic, but not yet figured out if BookCAT is able to write the A, B, C and so on... I got stuck on the part where the contents of a Book should list under one Book Title, today I get the Book Title repeating for as many contents items I have, from single times to several times...

I realize this is hard to explain, so I tried to make a graphic which I have attached.
The large letters is the BookCAT names which is set up into a table setup, at least that was the idea, but I have so messed up the file I bashed around that none is working right now..

So my questions are;
  • Is it possible for BookCAT to make a single letter heading like A, B, C, and so on based on a Books Title?
  • Is it possible to split a Book Title into two columns based on if they for instance is Type 1 or Type 2 titles?
  • Is it possible to list all Contents of a book line by line below a single Book Title and having the Page number linked to the Contents Title appear beside it on same line(s)?
  • Anybody know how that xsl file would look like, or even better, feel for helping me get hold of a such a file?

Thanks for reading this, I'm am so close to go back to use drag and drop into a regular html page made in Dreamweaver as I can't seem to get my head around this coding stuff...

Best wishes

Linda
