I'm having a hard time finding a topic that answers my questions.

Can BookCat be expanded to accommodate bar code systems? Would the bar code image be put in the book cover area?

Once we have our database established, will we be able to save it and then export it to another system? Meaning, if we had to transfer to a bigger system that was more automated, would we be able to transfer the library catalog into that other system--or would we have to start all over and re-enter the information from scratch?

I can't seem to find a size limit on the database. I'm not talking about the trial size book number. Is there a limit on titles that can be cataloged?

I'm sure I'll have additional questions, but answers to these first ones would be great!

BookCAT does already support barcode scanning, both when adding books (download data), and when checking books in & out.


You can export data to text and Excel files (File=>Export). (And the data is stored in a standard MS Access database file.)


It is not limited to any specific number of books, but the maximum file size of the database is 2GB. That should be enough to catalog, at least, 50-60.000 books.
