Video table: Standard fields

The Video table contains information about all videos in the database. Information from lookup tables (for example Format or Region) is not stored in the Video table, CATVids only saves a link to the relevant record in the lookup table. This means that any changes you make to a lookup record, for example fixing a typing error, is reflected in all videos where the lookup record is used.

Acquired From (Text 50 - lookup)

Where you bought the video, who you got it from, etc.

Barcode (Text 50)

The barcode number.

Borrower (Text 50 - lookup)

If the video is currently loaned out, this field contains the name of the borrower.

Catalog No (Text 25)

The catalog number assigned by the publisher.

Change in Value (Numeric)

The difference between price and value.

Change in Value % (Numeric)

The difference between price and value in percent.

Country (Text 50 - lookup)

The country where the video was manufactured.

Cover 1-9 (Binary)

This field contains the actual image if the image is stored in the database.

Cover 1-9 - Compressed (Yes/No)

Specifies whether the image is compressed or not (only applies to BMP images).

Cover 1-9 - External (Yes/No)

Specifies whether the image is stored externally (only the file path to the image file is stored in the database), or not.

Cover 1-9 - File name (Text 255)

If you have linked to an external image, this field contains the file name.

Cover 1-9 - Notes (Memo)

This memo field is for your own notes about the image.

Cover 1-9 - Thumbnail (Binary)

This is a thumbnail of the image. The thumbnail is automatically created when you add a new image.

Cover 1-9 - Type (Numeric)

The type of image: 0 - bmp, 1 - gif, 2 - jpeg, 3 - png, or 99 - other.

Current Value (Numeric)

The current value of the video.

Cut Out (Checkbox)

Check this field if one corner of the cover has a "hole punched" in it or a notch are cut out of the side of the cover.

Damaged (Checkbox)

Check this field if the video is damaged.

Date Acquired (Date)

The date you acquired the video. If you don’t remember the day and month, just specify the year. Click on the calendar icon to display a pop-up calendar where you can select the date.

Date Borrowed (Date)

If the video is currently loaned out, this field contains the date it was borrowed.

Date Due (Date)

If the video is currently loaned out, this field contains the date it is due to be returned.

Disc Count (Numeric)

The number of discs. This field is automatically updated by CATVids.

Distributor (Text 50 - lookup)

The name of the distributor.

Dual Layer (Checkbox)

Check this field if the disc has two layers of data.

Flip Required (Checkbox)

Check this field if the movie is split over two sides, requiring that the disc be flipped partway through.

Format (Text 50 - lookup)

The media format, for example "DVD", "Blu-Ray", "VHS", or "LaserDisc".

Free Time % (Numeric)

This field indicates the free time, in percent of tape length, available on the tape.

Free Time (EP) (Numeric)

This field indicates the free time available on the tape using the EP recording speed.

Free Time (LP) (Numeric)

This field indicates the free time available on the tape using the LP recording speed.

Free Time (SLP) (Numeric)

This field indicates the free time available on the tape using the SLP recording speed.

Free Time (SP) (Numeric)

This field indicates the free time available on the tape using the SP recording speed.

Full Title 1 (Text)

This field combines Title, Video Series and Release No into one field, like this: "Video Series (Release #): Title".

Full Title 2 (Text)

This field combines Title, Video Series and Release No into one field, like this: "Title (Video Series Release #)".

Guide Book (Checkbox)

Check this field if the video includes printed supplementary material.

Hidden Features (Memo)

Use this memo field to store information about hidden DVD features ("easter eggs").

Insurance (Text 50 - lookup)

Use this field to link the video to an insurance policy.

Karaoke (Text 50 - lookup)

If the disc contains karaoke tracks, specify the details here (for example, "Vocal 1", "Vocal 2" or "Vocal 1 + 2").

Label (Text 50 - lookup)

The label hosts the release, lists it in their catalog, and may hold the home video rights as well.

Laserdisc Format (Text 50)

The laserdisc format ("CAV", "CLV" or "CAA").

Last Modified (Date)

The date/time the record was last modified. This field is automatically updated by CATVids when you edit data.

Length (Numeric)

The total length of the video. As long as the Recordable check box is not checked, CATVids will automatically calculate the total length after you have registered the segments on the video.

Note: You can right-click the field to choose one of the predefined tape lengths.

Note: You can also calculate the total length by choosing 'Add Up Total Length' from the Video menu.

Note: CATVids will not add up the total length when the Recordable check box is checked.

Location (Text 50 - lookup)

Use this field to specify the location of the video.

Marked (Yes/No)

This field indicates whether the record is marked or not.

Multi-angle (Checkbox)

Check this field if different viewpoints can be selected during playback.

New Video (Yes/No)

This field indicates whether the video is new, and is based on the Date Acquired field. By default, if it's less than 60 days since you acquired the video, this field returns "Yes". If not, it returns "No".

Note: You can change the number of days used in this calculation by choosing Tools=>Options=>Data Entry, and specifying the new value in the 'New video period' text box. Default value is 60 days.

Notes (Memo)

This memo field is for your own notes.

Number of Segments (Numeric)

This field contains the number of segments on the video, and is automatically maintained by CATVids.

On Loan (Yes/No)

This field indicates whether the video is currently on loan.

Out of Print (Checkbox)

Check this field if the video is out of print.

Overdue (Yes/No)

If the video is loaned out, this field indicates whether it is overdue or not.

Owner (Text 50 - lookup)

The owner of the video.

Parental Control (Checkbox)

Check this field if the disc has some sort of parental control.

Publisher (Text 50 - lookup)

The name of the publisher.

Purchase Price (Numeric)

What you paid for the video.

Rare (Checkbox)

Check this field if this is a rare release.

Recordable (Checkbox)

Check this field if the video is a recordable media.

When this field is checked:

CATVids will never calculate the total length of the video.
The Tape Utilized and Free Time fields are available.
The Find Tape feature takes this video into account.

When this field is not selected:

The Add Up Total Time command is available.
The Tape Utilized and Free Time fields are not available.
The Find Tape feature ignores this video.

Reference No (Text 25)

Use this field if you have your own system for identifying videos in your collection.

CATVids will automatically generate the reference number. To configure this feature, choose Tools=>Options=>Reference No and make your selections.

Region (Text 50 - lookup)

The region code:

1 - Canada, U.S., U.S. Territories
2 - Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East (including Egypt)
3 - Southeast Asia, East Asia (including Hong Kong)
4 - Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, South America, Caribbean.
5 - Former Soviet Union, Indian Subcontinent, Africa (also North Korea, Mongolia)
6 - China

Registered (Date)

This field contains the date the video was added to the database. Today’s date is used automatically, but you can change it if you want. Click on the calendar icon to display a pop-up calendar where you can select the date.

Release No (Numeric)

If the video is part of a video series (for example, "Star Trek: The Next Generation"), use this field to specify the release number.

Release Year (Text 4)

The year the video was released.

Reserved (Yes/No)

This field indicates whether the video is reserved or not.

Reserved Date (Date)

If the video is reserved, this field contains the date the video was reserved.

Reserved To (Text 50 - lookup)

If the video is reserved, this field contains the name of the borrower the video is reserved to.

Scene Selection (Checkbox)

Check this field if the disc allows direct scene access.

Selling Price (Numeric)

Use this field to specify the selling price.

Sides (Numeric)

The number of sides with segments. For an ordinary video tape this is always 1. For a double sided DVD disc, this is 2. The value of this field is automatically updated by CATVids.

Status (Text 50 - lookup)

The status of the video, for example "Own" or "For sale".

Special Features (Text 50 - lookup)

Use this field to list the special features, for example "Making-Of Featurette", "Alternate Ending" or "Director's Commentary".

Special Features - Details (Memo)

Use this memo field if you need to provide additional details about the special features, for example "Feature Commentary with Director Ron Howard" or "Multi-Angle Storyboard-To-Animatic-To-Film segment featuring the Submarine and Podrace Lap 1 sequences".

Tape No (Numeric)

Specify the tape number. CATVids uses this number when printing labels.

Tape Utilized (Numeric)

This field indicates how much time that is being utilized on the tape.

Tape Utilized % (Numeric)

This field indicates how much time, in percent of tape length, that is being utilized.

Title (Text 150)

The video title.

Note: When you tab out of the Title field (or save the video), CATVids will automatically fill in the Title Sort field if it is empty.

Title Sort (Text 152)

This is the value that is used when sorting on the video title. When you tab out of the Title field (or save the video), CATVids will automatically fill in the Title Sort field if it is empty. If the name begins with "A" or "The", CATVids will automatically update the Title Sort field to reflect this. For example, if you type "The Blues Brothers" in the Title field, CATVids will add "Blues Brothers, The" to the Title Sort field. This means that the video is sorted under "B" instead of "T".

Trailer (Checkbox)

Check this field if the video contains trailer(s).

Type (Text 50 - lookup)

The type specifies the content of the video, for example "Home Video", "Movie" or "Television".

Used (Checkbox)

Check this field if the video is second hand.

Video ID (Numeric)

This is an unique ID number that is assigned to each record in the table. You cannot edit this field.

Video Series (Text 50 - lookup)

If the video is part of a video series (for example, "Star Trek: The Next Generation"), specify the name of the series in this field.

Video Standard (Text 50)

The video standard ("NTSC", "PAL" or "SECAM").
