You can preview the result of a rescan in a treeview before you update the database:

When you choose to delete tracks that links to missing audio files, you can also tell the program to delete empty albums (that is, albums without any tracks after the tracks with the missing audio files have been deleted).

Another new option is "Show tracks" that will display the tracks with the missing audio files in the Track View.
