Types of information

CATraxx stores four basic types of information:

Album information, such as title, format, label, catalog number, purchase price, genre, reference number, etc. "Album" is a general term that can mean a compact disc (CD), cassette tape, vinyl (long-playing) record, single (45 rpm), digital audio tape (DAT), and so forth.

To work with albums, activate the Album View (choose Album View from the View menu, or click Album View in the view bar).
Track information, such as song title, songwriters, producers, musicians, lyrics, etc. "Track" is a general term for any song, movement, or work that is contained within an album.

To work with tracks, activate the Track View (choose Track View from the View menu, or click Track View in the view bar).

Note: To add new tracks, or delete existing tracks, bring up the album data entry window for the album containing the tracks, and add or remove tracks via the track list.
Loan information, albums that currently are, or have been, on loan.

To view the loan history, activate the Loan View (choose Loan View from the View menu, or click Loan View in the view bar).
Lookup information, that you add once and then reuse later. The Artist/Person lookup table is a good example. Information about the artist (name, country of origin, etc.) is added to the Artist/Person table the first time you add an album or track by this artist. Later, you simply select the name from a list. When you modify an entry in a lookup table, for example to fix a typing error, the change will be reflected in all fields that are linked to this lookup table.

To work with lookup tables, activate the Lookup View (choose Lookup View from the View menu, or click Lookup View in the view bar), then select the desired lookup table from the Lookup Tables drop-down list:
