CD Text

CD Text is a extension of the existing audio CD standard that adds the ability to store text like album titles, artist names, and song titles on a music CD. This information is stored in such a way that it doesn't interfere with the normal operation of any CD players or CD-ROM drives.

CATraxx can read the CD title, artist and track titles from the CD, and automatically add this information to the database (choose New – Read CD Text from the Album menu in the Album View). For this to work you must have a CD-ROM drive that supports CD Text.

Since very few "commercial" CDs contains CD Text we recommend that you always download disc data for such CDs from CDDB. However, CD Text makes it much easier to catalog "home made" CDs. If your CD-R drive/software supports CD Text, make sure you use this feature. Then, simply let CATraxx scan the CD to read the disc data directly from the CD, and add it to the database.
