| 1. | Choose Download from CDDB from the Tools menu. You see the 'Download from CDDB' window. |
| 2. | Insert the CD you want to get information about into the CD-ROM drive, and choose Scan New from the CD menu (you can also press Ctrl + N). CATraxx scans the CD, and adds it to the list on the Browse tab. The status of the CD is set to Scanned. Note: Choose Auto Scan from the Options menu to activate automatic scan mode. When this option is activated CATraxx scans the CD, and then ejects it for you. You can insert another CD, close the CD drawer, and CATraxx automatically scans the CD and ejects it. This is a great time saver if you have a lot of CDs to scan, as you never need touch the keyboard or mouse while scanning. Note: By default, CATraxx tries to scan the CD every 3 seconds. If you have a slow CD-ROM drive, this may cause problems. It might help to increase the scan interval. You can change the scan interval (1 - 9 seconds) by choosing Auto Scan Interval from the Options menu. Note: CATraxx will only auto scan when the Browse tab is active. |
| 3. | Repeat step 2 for all CDs you want to download. |
| 4. | Choose Download CATraxx queries the CDDB database, and downloads disc data for all scanned CDs. The status of these CDs is set to Downloaded. Note: If a CD was not found in the CDDB database, you can type in the information yourself in this window. Remember to set the status to Manual Entry (choose Manual Entry from the CD menu) before you choose Transfer. (If you fail to do this, CATraxx will not transfer the CD to the database.) |
| 5. | Sometimes you may need to edit the downloaded disc data. Before you transfer the CDs to your database, we recommend that you go through the downloaded information, and check that it is correct. A special note on multi-disc sets (double CDs, box-sets, etc.) By default, each CD is treated as a separate entry. To tell CATraxx that two or more CDs belong together, you need to update the Album Title and Disc # fields before you choose Transfer. Give all CDs the same album title, and update the disc number accordingly. You do not have to modify the disc titles. For example, "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" by Smashing Pumpkins consists of two discs that will have the titles "Dawn to Dusk" and "Twilight to Starlight" after you have downloaded the disc data from CDDB. To have CATraxx merge these two discs into one album, you must set the Album Title of both CDs to "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness", the Disc # of the second CD to 2 ("Twilight to Starlight"), and the total number of discs to 2. Note: If you forget to do this before you choose Transfer, you can always use the Merge CDs command later to merge two CDs into one album. |
| 6. | To transfer the CDs to the database, choose Transfer CATraxx transfer the cds to the database, and closes the window. Only the newly added albums are shown in the Album View. To deactivate the subset so that you see all albums in the list, choose Subset |
