You can automatically set the album, track and playlist genre to the same as the artist genre (you edit the artist genre from the Artist/Person Edit window):

1.Activate the Artist/Person Lookup View and choose Set Genre from the Lookup menu (if you want to update only some of the artists, select these artists in the browse list first).

(You can also update a single artist from the 'Artist/Person Edit' window.)

You see the 'Set Genre' window.

2.Select whether you want to update the genre for all artists, the marked artists or the selected artists in the browse list.
3.To update albums, check the Update albums box.
4.To update tracks, check the Update tracks box.
5.To update playlists, check the Update playlists box.
6.To overwrite existing genres, check the Overwrite existing genre box. When this box is not checked, only records where the genre is not specified is updated.
7.Click OK.

Please note that if the Artist field contains multiple artists, CATraxx will update the genre based on the first artist.

By default, the program will automatically set the genre to the artist genre when adding a new album, track or playlist. If you want to disable this, choose Tools/Options/Data Entry and uncheck Automatically set genre to artist genre.

When downloading data from the Internet, or reading data from audio file tags, the genre is most likely already filled in. To overwrite this genre with the artist genre, choose Tools/Options/Data Entry and check Overwrite existing genre.
