To attach audio files to database

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

CATraxx can automatically attach audio files to all albums in the database in one operation. This is a great time saver!

1.Choose Attach Audio Files from the Audio menu.

You see the 'Attach Audio Files' window.
2.Select whether you want to attach audio files to all albums (without any attached audio files), the subset (marked albums) or the selected albums in the browse list.
3.In the Folder field, specify the path to the folder containing the audio files (note that CATraxx will also scan all folders below this folder).
4.Click the Scan button to scan the folder (if you clicked the Select folder button to select folder, it is not necessary to click the Scan button).
5.CATraxx starts to scan the folders, and will read the necessary information (album title, track index, etc.) from the tag or file/folder name.

When completed, it will build a list of albums without any attached audio files, and finally try to attach the scanned audio files to these albums.

Please be patient, this may take a while!
6.CATraxx will inform you about the total number of scanned audio files, and how many files that it was able to attach to tracks in the database.

Click OK.
7.To the list on the left, CATraxx adds all albums it was able to attach audio files to (grouped by artist and album title).

In the list on the right, you see the tracks on the selected album, with the attached audio files.

8.You should now check that the audio files have actually been attached to the correct albums/tracks.

If the wrong audio files have been attached to an album, uncheck the box next to the album name.

You can use drag-and-drop to rearrange the audio files in the track list if the files have been attached to the correct album, but to the wrong track.
9.Click OK to update the database.

When completed, CATraxx will inform you of the number of audio files that were not attached. It will also ask if you want to view the log file. This log file will list all files (grouped by folder) that were not attached. You can manually attach these audio files from the Album Edit window on an album by album basis.
