From the home page you can search by various fields, including author, title, publisher, genre and release year, and browse your database by author, keyword, publisher or title.

Here we are browsing by author. We have clicked the "G" link, and get a list of all (last) names starting with "G".

And finally, here we are exploring one of the books ("The Firm").

Notice all the hyperlinks you can click. You can for example click the publish date link to display other books published in 1991, or the publisher link to display other books published by the same publisher ("Island Books").
  Book View

From the Book View you add and edit books. You can use filters to only display specific books (for example books that are for sale or books purchased this year). In this example the grouping list to the left shows all authors in the database (you can group on almost any data field). Simply click on an author name to display the books written by this author.
Book Edit window

This is the Book Edit window where you enter book information.

BookCAT has a comprehensive set of data fields enabling you to catalog a wide range of information: author, title, publisher, ISBN number, publish date, number of pages, editor, original title, translator, binding, edition, type of book (fiction, non-fiction, etc.), genre, purchase date and price, current value, condition, status (own, for sale, etc.), personal rating, owner, location, keywords, awards and nominations, comments, synopsis, reviews, and more.
Lookup View (Person)

From the Lookup View you edit data in the various lookup tables (Person, Binding, Genre, Keyword, Publisher, etc.). BookCAT uses a relational database model. BookCAT automatically creates a link between the book and the entry in the lookup table. When you edit the lookup table, for example, to fix a typing error, the change will be reflected in all fields that are linked to the lookup table.
Lookup Edit window (Person)

In the Person table you can store author profiles, biographies and reviews, as well as pictures and links to web sites. The Person lookup table has many fields, including Born (date), Birth Name, Birth Location, Country, Biography, Notes, File and Web Links, and 10 custom fields.
Lookup Edit window (Genre)

You can set up your own genres by editing the Genre lookup table.
Download from Internet

You can download book data (for example book title, author, publisher, publish year, keywords, cover art, and more) from the Internet.
Loan Management - Check Out

BookCAT allows you to track books out on loan; you can easily loan out a book, set a due date and search for all books out on loan and books overdue.

In this example we are checking out a book from the Book Edit window.
Loan Management - Check In

In this example we are checking in two books from the Check Titles In/Out window.
Loan Management - Loan View

The Loan View gives you an overview of the loan history (both books that are currently loaned out, and books that previously have been loaned out).
  Form Designer

Use the Form Designer to redesign the field layout in all data entry windows!
Report Designer

BookCAT allows you to create your own reports with exactly the layout you want, or you can use one of the more than 100 pre-defined reports.

You have full control of data fields, groups, sort order, columns, fonts, colors, paper size, margins and print orientation.

This example shows a simple report that prints a list of your books grouped by the first letter of the author name.
Database Setup window

From the Database Setup window you can customize the tables and fields: Change field names, set default values, hide fields you don’t need, etc.
HTML Export Window

You can easily export data to a set of HTML pages you can upload to any web site.
HTML Export - Result

This is an example of the output using the Overview export template. The list at the top of the window gives you the ability to filter by the first letter of the author name. The list on the left shows the author names.

Click an author name to display all books written by this author. Then click the book title to go to the book detail page.
