Contents table

The Contents table contains information about all sections (chapters, short stories, individual essays, etc., contained within books). Information from lookup tables (for example Type) is not stored in the Contents table, BookCAT only saves a link to the relevant item in the lookup table. This means that any changes you make to a lookup item, for example fixing a typing error, is reflected in all sections where the item is used.

Field Name	Type	Description
Author	Text 50 (lookup)	The name of the author(s). In the first column, type the name of the person. In the second column, specify the role you want to link the person to (Co-Author, etc.).
Author Relation	Text (lookup)	This field includes all related authors.
Book ID	Numeric	This is the book's unique ID number.
Chapters	Text	You can use this field to register the chapters of the book. The list has three columns: Title, Page From and Page To.
Contents ID	Numeric	This is an unique ID number that is assigned to each entry in the table.
Copyright Date	Date	The copyright date. If you don't know the day and month, just specify the year.
Country	Text50 (lookup)	The country of origin.
Credits	Text 50 (lookup)	Additional credits. In the first column, type the name of the person. In the second column, specify the role you want to link the person to.
Custom 01	Text 50	This is a standard text field. To rename the field to suit your needs, choose Database Setup from the Tools menu, select the Contents table, click the Fields tab, locate the field in the list and type the new field name in the Name column.

Custom 04	Text 50 (lookup)	This is a text field linked to lookup table.
Custom 05	Text 50 (lookup)	This is a text field linked to lookup table.
Custom 06	Text 50 (lookup)	This is a text field linked to lookup table.
Custom 07	Date	This is a date field.
Custom 08	Numeric	This is a numeric field.
Custom 09	Numeric	This is a numeric field.
Custom 10	Boolean	This is boolean field (checkbox) that can contain one of two possible values: checked (selected, yes, on, true) or not unchecked (selected, no, off, false).
Custom 11	Boolean	This is a boolean field (checkbox).
Custom 12	Boolean	This is a boolean field (checkbox).
Custom 13	Boolean	This is a boolean field (checkbox).
Custom 14	Boolean	This is a boolean field (checkbox).
Custom 15	Boolean	This is a boolean field (checkbox).
File Links	Text	Here you can add links to files.
Full Title 1	Text	This field combines Title, Series and Release No into one field: Series (Release No): Title.
Full Title 2	Text	This field combines Title, Series and Release No into one field: Title (Series Release No).
Index	Numeric	This field contains the section's index number, and is automatically maintained by BookCAT.
Item	Numeric	This field contains the item the section is located in, and is automatically maintained by BookCAT.
Keywords	Text 150 (lookup)	This is for listing keywords that describe the work.
Language	Text 50 (lookup)	The language.
Last Modified	Date	The date the record was last modified (automatically updated by the program).
Main Author	Text (lookup)	This field includes authors assigned to the Main Author role.
Marked	Boolean	This field indicates whether the section is marked or not.
Notes	Memo	This field is for your own notes, and can hold up to 250Kb of text.
Original Copyright	Date	If the section is translated, use this field to specify the original copyright date. If you don't know the day and month, just specify the year.
Original Country	Text 50 (lookup)	The original country of origin.
Original Language	Text 50 (lookup)	If the section is translated, use this field to specify the original language.
Original Publisher	Text 50 (lookup)	The original publisher.
Original Release No	Numeric	If the work is translated, use this field to specify the release number in the series.
Original Series	Text 50 (lookup)	If the work is translated, use this field to specify the name of the original series.
Original Subtitle	Text 255	If the work is translated, use this field to specify the original subtitle.
Original Title	Text 150	If the section is translated, use this field to specify the original title.
Page From	Text 15	The first page.
Page From-To	Text	This field includes both Page From and Page To as one field (for example, 10-25).
Page To	Text 15	The last page.
Position	Numeric	This field contains the “section position”. With section position we mean what item the section is located in, and the index number. For example, if the section is number 3 in item 1, the section position is 1-3.
Release No	Numeric	If the work is part of a series, use this field to specify the release number.
Series	Text 50 (lookup)	If the work is part of a series, specify the name of the series in this field.
Title Sort	Text 152	This is the value that is used when sorting on the title. When you tab out of the Title field (or save the section), BookCAT will automatically fill in the Title Sort field if it is empty. If the name begins with "A" or "The", BookCAT will automatically update the Title Sort field to reflect this.
Title	Text 150	Use this field to specify the title.
Translator	Text 50 (lookup)	If the section is translated, specify the name of the translator(s) here.
Type	Text 50 (lookup)	The type of work, for example Essay, Short Story, or Poem.
